Raphah Yada`

Now that I just went through all of that, let me add one last big thing to think about. It falls more into the Hebrew version of be still. We will be revisiting it again throughout our time together and again later at a deeper level. Yes, we are going to need to take a slower pace as we work through this process of ministering from the inside out, but there is a deeper invitation here as well.

If you are like me, even as I cleared a bit of my busy schedule away to make room for closely examining my life, it only opened up a small window for me to feel refreshed, calm, and still. The rest of my day was crazy and full to the brim with "real life" everywhere. Is He telling us to only sink and relax in those quiet be still moments, or is He wanting us to discover something deeper?

Where does Christ fit in to this? I believe He fits best right smack in the middle of all the chaos and the crazy.  It’s okay to invite Him into the uncertainty of the future and the unanswered questions of the past.  It's okay that He knows how long it's been since you have scrubbed your toilets and that you have a sink full of dirty dishes. It's okay to invite Him to be with you as you struggle over parenting your kids, your broken marriage, or your frustrations at work. Do you realize it’s not only okay to let Him into all of this, but He actually expects us to bring Him into the mess?  He wants to be there with us.

He isn’t just there for us in those quiet moments when we formally come to Him, but in every moment if we will let Him be. As we learn to take our Savior with us like this rather than as simply a friend who we visit from time to time, or regularly at best, that is when I believe we can be changed to truly feel relaxed and become able to sink down into any circumstance or experience.  Although we will not revisit the English translation of “be still” other than a mention here or there, we will be unfolding this beautiful mystery of the Hebrew translation for the rest of our time together.
