Aquarian Sadhana

It's my privilege to teach 3 classes for my Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training practicum hours!!! I have decided to offer them as FREE Aquarian Sadhanas. <3 All I ask in return is: 1. you fill out a feedback form with your thoughts and experiences from each class/me as a teacher 2. you pass it on by finding a way to make somebody else's day brighter or easier.

If you have been curious or interested in learning more about Kundalini Yoga, this could be a great opportunity for you! Although yoga is not a religion, Kundalini is a very spiritual form of yoga...it isn't your typical gym style yoga! :) It is called the yoga of householders because this technology was designed for yogis who have lives and jobs and families...and aren't meditating in isolation in a cave in India. :)

We can forget that there are multiple dimensions to living yoga. In order for yoga to create a deep self awareness, it actually requires a commitment to a lifestyle practice and not just time moving our bodies in poses on our yoga mat. Kundalini yoga cuts through the demands of modern living and offers a complete experience all within Sadhana, or our daily spiritual practice.

We do quite a bit with our arms and hands and usually repetitious motions. There is also lots of breathing and mantra chanting in a typical class. Because of the unique combination of the components of movement, breath, meditation, chanting, eye focus, etc. it is a rich experience for the mind and body (and especially the brain). Kundalini yoga is totally worth trying in your life time! <3

These classes will be held in the small yoga studio in our home. We have space for a small group of friends to join together in-person, but I am willing to have friends join via Zoom if distance is an obstacle. Our family is even willing to open up our home for anyone who needs to bring their own air mattress and bedding and crash for the night in the yoga room.

Aquarian Sadhana is held from 3:45am-6 am (hence the offers to help and acknowledgement that it may take some creativity to be able to join with us). :)

The first 15 minutes is technically separate from Sadhana. A recording of JapJi will be played, and you can choose to chant or follow along (I'm still working on learning this myself!) or skip this part altogether.  4am-to roughly 5am we will have a typical Kundalini yoga movement class with a tune in, breath exercise, warm ups, a movement portion (called a Kriya), gong nap (Savasana/stillness time), and meditation.

Roughly 5am-6am (it takes 62 minutes of straight chanting with no pauses between) we will be chanting beautiful and specific mantras for set amounts of times and in a specific order. I will have some laminated "cheat sheets" that you can borrow during class with the mantras written out as well as their translations (or I will send it to you digitally if you plan to join online).

We will use breathtaking and easy-to-catch melodies/rhythms with recordings from professional artists for each mantra...so it's basically a yoga "sing along" that totally opens up your heart <3 because of all the breath work involved in chanting like this PLUS it also actually activates your brain. There are 84 reflex points in the mouth. Chanting mantras creates vibration (especially vibration of the roof of our mouths/palates...and what is on the other side of our palates?...our brains!!!) Can you tell I'm a complete brain and Anatomy & Physiology geek?! :)

But in all seriously, it's a powerful, powerful technology that I can't wait to share with you! Aquarian Sadhana can be a profound experience mentally/emotionally and physically.

The classes will be on Sundays from 3:45 am-6-ish am:
1. September 8
2. October 13
3. November 10

What to bring: a yoga mat if you would like to (I have extra yoga mats, meditation cushions, and big pillows you can borrow); water bottle; blanket; possibly a notebook/pen if you would like that.

What to wear: traditionally, we choose to dress in all white for Kundalini yoga, but that is totally optional. Whatever you wear, make sure it is comfy. We also traditionally cover our heads. Although I personally prefer using a scarf or shawl, even a beanie or similar comfy hat works too. I have a few extra scarves and shawls, so talk to me if you need to borrow one for class. Again, covering the head is optional, but I would highly recommend it.

Reach out with any questions and to RSVP where in-person space is limited and the details of joining online will be communicated privately.

HUGS and Sat Nam! ("The Truth or the Divinity inside of me recognizes the Truth and Divinity inside of you" <3)
